Penny Gonnella
Penny Gonnella, LCSW; MSW Social Work Treatment, University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work, Denver, Colorado; B.A. in Social Work, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Since 2006, Ms. Gonnella has worked as a Senior Instructor with 100% of time contracted to Title V Program with Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. This program is specifically to provide support services for families who have children with special health care needs. The focus of work has been to be Program Coordinator for the Diagnostic and Evaluation Clinics around the state; function as a Care Coordinator with the Traumatic Brain Injury. In addition, Ms. Gonnella has worked as a Public Health Consultant for Social Work and Mental Health services as well as leading efforts to integrate cultural competency focus in the Medical Home Initiative among other programming. Ms. Gonnella has professional training in Social Work (BA and MSW) to work within medical systems from community clinics, outpatient services and acute care settings to assist patients and families to cope with the emotional impact of illness and finding appropriate community resources. In addition, work has focused on child abuse investigation and treatment as well as on family violence. She has also worked in community systems to write and direct grants for family centered system of care services. For the past 30 years or more the focus of work has been in assisting families and children in crisis as well as brokering for community support in health care settings for the full spectrum of patient populations.
