Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND)

The LEND Fellowship offers specialized training for individuals planning careers in maternal and child health. JFK’s CoLEND (Colorado Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) Program emphasizes Autism Spectrum Disorders and focuses upon leadership skills and advanced interdisciplinary clinical preparation. Full-time Trainees/Fellows will engage in a 12-month program (usually beginning in September) of academic, clinical, and community experiences in evaluation, diagnosis, and development and provision of evidence-based interventions to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities. Leadership, cultural competence, and family-centered skills will be strengthened. Part-time participation may be considered.

Courses:

Qualifications:
Must be at the post-doctoral level and have achieved the education and experience levels required of their profession. Appropriate disciplines include: Medicine, Pediatrics, Child Psychiatry, Nursing, Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, and Speech & Language Pathology. Fellowships for other disciplines may be arranged. Opportunities are also available for parents of children with developmental disabilities and for youth consumers with disabilities.

Stipends:
Trainee/Fellow support is available, commensurate with discipline and experience.

Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship (SLPCF)

Trainees/Fellows will engage in a 9 to 12-month program of academic, clinical, and community experiences in evaluation, diagnosis, and development and provision of evidence-based interventions to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities. Professional experience includes direct patient contact, consultations, record keeping, and other duties relevant to clinical work. Clinical experiences include working with individuals with disabilities and their families as part of transdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams in both center and community settings. Although there is a strong focus on Autism, transdisciplinary early intervention services for young children birth to 3 with developmental disabilities also are an emphasis for this fellowship.  Fellows are expected to work under the guidance and mentorship of an interprofessional group of students, faculty, and clinicians. Graduate courses are required for all trainees and fellows in the program.

Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology and an individual seeking supervised professional clinical experience required to obtain the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

Stipend:
A stipend and health insurance will be available for each participant. Graduate tuition and fee waivers for the graduate course work is available for Colorado residents.
