TeleCopes: Telehealth for Families of Children on the Autism Spectrum with Anxiety

This two-year project is to develop and evaluate the use of distance technology to deliver intervention to families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and anxiety who are geographically removed from specialty centers. Using the Face Your Fears intervention model, the clinical team will alter the methods used in face-to-face sessions to distance methods through blending videoconferencing sessions, online learning modules, and phone calls to provide the intervention.

Major Goals:
  1. Refine the policies, procedures, and treatment materials of the Face Your Fears intervention package for delivery using distance technology;
  2. Assess the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention using distance technology; and
  3. Estimate the degree of change or variability of response to the distance intervention on youth and family outcomes.

This project is funded by the Health Services Resource Administration (HRSA), award # 1R40MC15593-01-00 from September 1, 2009-August 31, 2011.
